We recently built a special room for a home theater, it's pretty much complete, except for one problem, the HDMI cable we ordered has HDMI on one end and a DVI-D Single Link Female socket on the other. We need HDMI both ends.

I have been trying to look for an adapter which does DVI-D female to HDMI male, we found some but all the connections are 24 pin as opposed to 18 pin.

So can anybody please offer some help or advice?
Thank you.

Why not just get a real HDMI cable? Maybe you can exchange the HDMI/DVI cable for the one you really need.

the problem is the cables has been stuck through the wall and over inside the ceiling over to the other side of the room, the only way to get it out would be to wreck the walls by cutting into it or opening up the roof which would be a fairly large thing to do.

I'd rather find an easier solution

Like this?

I think it's 18 pin.

This is why you use conduit!

I think it's 18 pin.I'm looking at this and I see 24 pin holes. How do you come up with 18? BTW, how can there be 18 and 24 pin DVI? Isn't it standardized?

It is. DVI-D just carries digital RGB and has fewer pins. The higher pins is a DVI-I cable which can carry both digital and analog RGB.

Just get a DVI-HDMI adapter.
