Question about IR on a Panasonic 42PX75U. I bought it last week but it was one of the display models from Best Buy, it had a manufacture date of October 2007. The salesman said that it was only on display for a few weeks. I notice the same exact IR. Every time I switch from tv to another input and have a black screen, I can see images from the last screen shot (words, menu bars, etc.) I have no Idea if this is normal or not, I'm kind of worried because it was a display model and I'm sure that they did no kind of break in. Am I worrying for nothing? I haven't checked the hours but I assume it was in the store for 25 days, at most 15 hours a day...so 375 hours?? Will the IR eventually get better or did it hurt the tv being on Vivid for 37 hours at the store?

As long as the IR you see is from the last channel and not the exact same image each time...then it is normal IR. This should get better as the set ages.

i just got delivered a panny 50"10uk and also have IR.same as the post above when switch the tv to another imput or turn the dvd off i get IR .so this can be normal at first with a plasma then,am i correct in thinking this.Everything else seems ok.the guy at visual apex said to run a program(movie etc)at 1.78 to fill the screen and let the tv adjust in time.how long should it take?i have only been running the tv for about 7 hours or so.

I'm on my 3rd plasma now and my latest one (TH-42PZ77U) seems to have little or no IR....but even on my 2 older sets the IR gets less and less with time until it eventually either goes away or is so slight you don't notice. I would use reduced brightness/contrast for the first 3-4 months just to be sure that IR doesn't become permanent burn-in..
