Well I am on my second 50pz77u now. I thought of something strange from my first defective set. The decal on the lower right side of the frame that advertises 1080p, anti-glare coating, etc. was not there. I had seen it on all of the sets that I have been around. The decal is also on the new set that was delivered last night. I am wondering if the original tv I had was previously used and repackaged nicely...and the original person removed the decal, which I always do right away with electronics, and then noticed the defect and returned the set. After having the original tv for a little while I went into the service menu to check the hours...and it seemed a little higher than I expected. The new set had exactly 0 hours 0 minutes when I first powered it up...I checked right away this time. Has everyone elses new display come with the decal? I am wondering if it something that is not tightly controlled in the panasonic factory so a few panels here and there slip through without the decal. Am I just over-analyzing this?

Hmm...I have the 42pz77u and it did not have the decal. Well...I have went through the 200+ hour burn-in disk phase, checked carefully for dead pixels (of which I haven't found any), etc. and this set is a winner so if someone returned it, it was their bad :P

Mine came with the decal. I waited to take it off until after the return period was over. I think your suspicions are probably correct.

My TH-42PZ77U also didn't have a sticker (that I remember) and I checked the hours the first day and it was about right @3+ hours. Maybe it is only on the 50"?

edit- mine does have a small "energy star" sticker on the lower left..

hi,

i have a slightly different tv (the TH-42pz700u), but i think the sets are almost identical with the exception of the anti reflective coating on the pz77u. i noticed in the store that the pz700 had a 1080p sticker, but when i brought mine home it didn't have one. my tv had 0 hours on it too, so it think you're probably alright. (Don't worry about being paranoid, i was a little too :) )

Mine also had a sticker on my 50PZ77U.

How do you get into the service menu to check hours and such?

I've seen it posted somewhere but I can't find it.

What disk are you using? How long does the disk take to run?

Is it easy to remove the decal or does it leave sticky residue behind as stickers usually do?

Both sets had the energy star sticker, but it's not as intrusive as the large 1080p decal that my eyes keep being drawn to.

No stiker here as well (42pz77u). Didnt check for hours though. Everything was completely sealed and pact exactly like our other 42pz77u we have in another bedroom, but that one had the sticker.

No sticker on my 42pz77u and I don't think there were any hours on it when I got it.

Just a thought but everyone should list their Build Dates because maybe when they first came out the older sets had the sticker on them so they would standout on the showroom floor & when they ran out of stickers they din't bother with them anymore or maybe the marketing dept. came up with the idea & the stickers are on the newer sets?

First 50pzzu build date was nov 07, no sticker. Second 50pzzu build date was oct 07, with sticker. Can anyone tell me if this is an easy sticker to peel, or one that will leave nasty, sticky residue behind for months to come??
