As another record breaking year for (HD)TV sales comes to a close, one thing is certain, flat panel displays are the clear consumer choice, with Plasma HDTV sets dominating the 50-inch & larger category.

Plasma TV Manufacturers invest now for the future (http://www.hdtvinfo.eu/news/hdtv-articles/plasma-tv-manufacturers-invest-now-for-the-future.html)

Reinforcing their commitment to plasma, the 4 premiere television manufacturers who make up the coalition —Hitachi, LG Electronics, Panasonic & Pioneer—continue to expand the manufacturing of plasma panels & displays at their respective facilities, which total 20 locations in Japan, Korea, China, Poland & Mexico.

It's great that manufacturers aren't giving up on plasma in spite of the fact that lcd's are dominating overall sales. Since alternate (and superior) flat panel technologies are slow getting to market, I'm looking forward to plasma makers continuing to improve PQ while reducing power consumption. Even though lcd makers have made great improvements over the past few years...I think plasma still leads in the one category that matters most: overall PQ.

Lcd may give you brightness and blinding whites and cartoonish colors, front projection may give you awesome theater-like size...but nothing compares to plopping down in front of a properly set up plasma and watching Hi-def content.
