Hi

I've been looking at the Linksys DMA 2200 or 2100 media centre extenders, but they require a Vista Premium or Ultimate Media Center PC to act as the server.

I would like to use Twonky Media server running on an nslu2 to serve the media, but I don't know if this will be compatible.

Are the linksys devices pure uPnP clients? If so then it should work.

I've contacted Twonkyvision but received no reply (however they have recently been aquired by packetmedia...). I also contacted Linksys, but they had no idea what the products would be used for, let alone answer a technical question!

The other alternative I see is to run the kissdx server on the nslu2 with a kiss-1600 player. This will achieve similar results, but the kiss player is limited to wireless-g, while the 2200 supports wireless-n. The 2200 claims 1080p support yet the kiss player is limited to 1080i.

Does anyone have any insight to this problem?

Basically I just don't know if the Vista/Ultimate MC-PC server expects to talk to uPnp clients or it if implements a different protocol.

Please help!

Thanks,
Vince.

I don't think anyone really knows, except Linksys, becasue there is so little information out about these units. Can't find any reviews, and the last I read they are suppose to be released early January...we will see.
