So I just got my Ocean's Trilogy Boxed Set today from Amazon.com

I turn over the back and it lists the following:

Video:
Ocean's Eleven (2001)
1080p High Definition 16x9 2.4:1

Video:
Ocean's Twelve
Ocean's Thirteen (Side A) 1080p High Definition 16x9 2.4:1

Video:
Ocean's Thirteen (Side B) 480p Standard Definition 16x9 2.4:1

Now.. does this mean there are TWO versions of Ocean's Thirteen, one SD one HD? Or has the movie literally been cut in HALF, spanned across sides of the disc.. and only half is HD? (The latter is how my friends read it.)

Can someone explain?

You shouldn't listen to your friends! There are two versions, it's a combo disc with one side being the HD side, and one side being the SD side. Breathe! :)

*gasp wheeze gasp*

Sorry, reading the back of this box I was immediately confused. I didn't leap to the conclusion that THEY did, but hey.

So.. this means there are actually TWO Hi-Defintion movies .. Ocean's Twelve & Ocean's Thirteen.. on ONE SIDE of the HD-DVD disc? Wow, I wasn't actually sure that was POSSIBLE. They must use some impressive compression standards!

No.

OCEANS 11 & 12 (currently only available in the boxset) are HD DVD discs only. Each on their OWN SEPARATE HD DVD disc.

OCEANS 13 (which is available on it's own) is a combo disc. Std DVD version on one side, HD DVD on the other. The combo can be played (Std DVD side) on ANY DVD player. The flip side of the "13" disc is the HD DVD side.

Ocean's 11 - HD DVD, and in HD. Disc 1.
Ocean's 12 - HD DVD, and in HD. Disc 2.
Ocean's 13 - HD DVD Combo Disk. One side is HD DVD, other side is regular DVD. In case you want to watch it somewhere that you don't have an HD DVD player, but you can use the same disc to watch it in an HD DVD player in HD. Disc 3.

AH, ok. It all makes sense, now.
I just got slightly confused when reading the back of the package. :)

The cover art on the boxed set is very nice, I can't wait to get home and plug these in tonight!

Given the way O13 looks, the OP may go back to thinking the whole movie is half of what we normally consider HD PQ after watching it. ;=}
