Hey Guys

My above TV has the 5.1 surround external speakers and none of them are working ( just the 2 internal built in ones), a few weeks back it was working fine...I have this horrible feeling my stupid flatmate shorted the speaker cables out and now they won't work.

What sort of damage could this do and is there anyway to fix this ? If they had shorted ( which I'm guessing ) would they have also stopped the internal speakers working...

Just looking for some info to try and diagnoise what could be wrong :)

If "shorted", it could have blown the audio amp(s).

Best to first check that ALL of your audio inputs are connected properly and ALL audio options are set/configured properly in the TV as well as the external sources.

I've checked all the cables and configuration options to death, read the manual 3 times and 3 times backwards :)....when I run the surround sound setup which plays audio to each speaker it plays internal front right, internal front left but as soon as it tries to play audio to the external center, external rear surround left, external rear surround right nothing happens.....anyone know if there is a fuse in the TV that may have blown for the external speakers ? or if it's possible to replace just the audio circuit for the external speakers ?

surprissed more people havn't come accross this problem ????

I'd suggest posting an inquiry is the display forum relevant to this set. You probably have a much better chance there finding someone familiar with your problem.

Sounds to me as if it's set to "stereo" instead of "surround".

Are there individual volume adjustments for each channel? Are the levels raised for center and surrounds?
