I purchased 3 pairs of Speakercraft AIM7 Three in ceiling speakers and a AIM LCR Three inwall speaker for my HT. I can not afford the Speakercraft metal back box enclosures so I will build them myself. They seem to be designed to meet fire codes anyway. So my questions concern size (volume) of the boxes and dampening material inside the box.

Box size: Just make the boxes the same as the Speakercraft metal ones? I was told by one installer 1cu' is a good size but the Speakercraft enclosures are about .4cu'

Dampening: Any nessesary? If dampening material is needed what type and thickness? Should I place it on 5 sides or just two?

BTW: I asked on the DIY speaker site and they started talking way above my head, so I need simple answers if possible. I don't have or intend to own the test equipment and design equipment to follow thier recomendations.
