im thinkin about getting this game for Christmas, and i want to know how long is the game?

Single player: 10-12 hours

Multiplayer: infinite :-)

Single-player is an experience no shooter fan should miss playing through, at least once.

Multiplayer online however, is just on another level.

It is like crack/cocaine in your veins. You just get hooked and addicted!

Single player is about 4 hours and there is nothing new or unique in MP. Most overrated game of the year. People flocked to this game like sheep and I have no idea why. The only cool part of the game was the helicopter mission but even that got annoying hearing the same 2 sentences of commands over and over and over.

I thought that the perk of being able to get a few extra shots off with your pistol before dieing was new and different. Or has it been done before?

This game is awesome. The offline is a little short. I would say about 10-14 hours of play. Online is where its at. I would recommend this one.

I would say single player at normal level is about 8 hours or so.
As much as I would like it to be longer, it really is amazing.
I've passed it 4 times now. I'm trying it now on the hardest level and I've been playing it on and off for a few weeks now and I'm only half way through. Hard level is freakin' hard.

If you are amazing at video games the off line portion can be completed in about 5 hours.

I didn't like single player at all. I don't like the non-sandbox approach. I had to follow my team always and if you don't they yell at you. The whole SP is basically laid out for you (at least the portion I played) and that is not my personal taste. I prefer games like Resistance or Half life. I know some people like this kind of game though, and for them, it was probably great - good story.

The multiplayer, though, is the absolute best I have played since Counter-strike, and may even be better than CS in some aspects... ok, a few aspects. If you like team based realistic shooters, you CANNOT miss this multiplayer. As far as "how long is it?" If it turns out that you like the MP, and I bet you will, I would say that you need at least 36 hours minimum to get to level 55, which you will be addicted to the game like crack for those 36 hours. Realistically you may even take longer than that to get to 55 - it depends on how good you are. After that, if you were really liking it, you will probably want to do prestige to essentially "beat" the MP again... tack on another 30 hours or so for this (if you have improved). Then, you decide if you want to do prestige AGAIN. You probably will want to :P You can do prestige up to 9 times, essentially "beating" the MP 10 times. That is at least 300 hours of gaming, plus, any other time you may want to play AFTER you beat it all those times. It is super addicting and I would say that you would play the MP for at least 100 hours :p

For anyone that's interested, Best Buy currently has this on sale this week. Multi-player is a blast. The campaign has some difficult moments on Veteran difficulty.

Come on man, give COD4 multiplay another shot. Did you even try Headquarters? I play COD4 FFA: DM exclusively, but even I'm giving HQ a chance this week.

Its much shorter than that if you know what you're doing. Its no where near the length of Uncharted.

The only way to get through it in 5 hours is playing unrealistically. If you run-n-gun & go Rambo, it can be done....but it takes a lot of the fun out of the game.

The single player campaign is infinitely more fun if you approach it like a real human being. I know I react adversely to bullets, so sprinting down an open road or generally moving without cover is out of the question. Those who finish it quickly take advantage of the liberal recovery mode and don't mind taking a few bullets to keep moving. Of course, it shouldn't work this way but IW had to make some compromises between reality & playability.

I really enjoyed the single player and have repeated at least 3 times. The cluster grenades are a blast, no pun intended.

^^ Yep me too! Loved SP, now actually trying to beat the Hardest mode :) I beat it 3 times also! Now just like Avarice said - it should be played as intended. I personally love to take my time :) So all the complaints about this game, Uncharted, and HS has been an blown up way out of proportion... Either way, its a great experience... Graphically, and Sound wise... Gameplay is top notch!

P.S HS is shortest of them all :) Ups! back on topic... COD4 online is THE SHIZNIT though!

Well don't worry because I haven't talked down any other game on these boards. Kotor was boring to me. Didn't say the game was bad, it was just boring, to me. CoD4, to me is CoD2 with a modern makeover. I felt Rainbow Six Vegas was a much better single and multiplayer experience.

Hey, everyone is entitled to an opinion even if it's wrong.
Anyway, I'm with the majority on this one.. can't put it down. It took me 15 hours to beat this but that's cause I'm old.

Hey, I'm "old" too, but it didn't take me that long first time through; I like to barnstorm the first time around and then take my time, line up a good head shot here and there, and look around from that point on. But I tend to get killed looking for a dang laptop! :D
