I'm considering purchasing a Mitsubishi xx734 DLP. After seeing the on-screen interface, I'm concerned about how it will work with a universal remote. How would I program the remote (HK TC1000) to select a specific video input? It seems that the process with the remote involves selecting the Video button, then moving left or right, depending on the current setting. If the selection process is relative to the previous input setting, it is impossible to create a macro to always select a particular video input (To turn on the DVD player and configure it for playback, for example.)

Are there other codes for absolute selection of the video inputs? Is there a different way to approach this?

Thanks!

The Harmony remotes have discreet input codes. Here is a link to a post in the XX734 forum.

My older Mits CRT remote required me to toggle through the inputs. My Harmony 670 will select the correct input with discreet codes.

Although the TV remote will not let you directly select an input, the TV will. Go figure.

The fact that the Harmony 720 has the direct codes is good. That shows that the TV knows how to interpret them. However, I don't have a Harmony. I have an older HK TC1000, which is extremely programmable, and can learn anything. So I have to buy the Harmony to teach the TC1000 the direct codes? Or is there some other way to generate the needed codes?

Is there any documentation for the control codes?

I own a 62725 dlp, and there was a sequence of button pushes for its remote that put it in a different mode. Then it was able to select inputs directly. So it's possible that the remote for your tv will do the same thing.

I mentioned Harmony mostly to let you know there are discreet codes available on the TV. There is a Discrete Code Hunter at remotecentral.com. If you can get the codes, I'm not sure if they can be added or not, but you can try asking your question at Remote Central. Someone there may be familiar with your remote.
