I live in France and I just got a Japanese PS3. Can I plug it in the European 220/240 voltage or is it safer to use a transformer?

check out the ps3 box. Does it say 100-240V? Also, I would make sure you run it on a UPS.

If the box stays 100-240V then you shouldn't have a problem. But I think you need to the small adapter because the shape of the plugs are different.

The adapters are fairly cheap. When I was in Europe I had to use two prong circular plug.
