If I'm only going to be calibrating brightness and contrast on my A3, I don't need the HD version of DVE do I? I don't have calibration equipment so I won't be able to calibrate the color temp, etc...I haven't needed to mess with saturation levels much on my set but if I did want to check that would I then need the HD version?

I borrowed some equipment in the past and have my D* HR-20 calibrated to perfection over HDMI so should that get my A3 over HDMI pretty close?

I used the SD version before the HD version came out and I don't recall any differences. I just use them mainly for grayscale and what little I can do with the color filters. If there were differences, they were minor. There's a free HD-DVD Rec 709 disc (with very good grayscale patterns for each extreme end - blacks/whites) you can download. Look in the calibration forum.
