I just bought the Collector's copy today at Best Buy and I was wondering which version should I watch first? I never watch Blade Runner. Yes I know thats crazy talk about its true. So it would be great full if I could get some input on this. Also I would like to wish everyone a safe Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

If you watch the Final Cut first, you will be seeing the director's preferred version of the film, and also the best quality transfer of the collection. This will give you the fairly rare perspective of someone whose first (and therefore most lasting) impression of the film comes from the Final Cut.

Or you can watch one of the Theatricals first. This will put you in the same shoes as everybody else. None of us who've seen this movie over and over can have any idea what it's like to see the FC first.

Your choice. You can only stop being a virgin once. :D

Well seeing you’re 21 and the chances of you seeing the original on VHS laserdisc or TV in the past I don’t know. I’m more of an original fan of this cult futuristic thriller, I was so eager to play the original when I got it home two weeks ago. Oh the six-track Dolby stereo experience was so delightfully pleasing, oh it was worth the wait. :)

I saw Blade Runner for the first time three nights ago -- a local theater was showing the Final Cut. It's... a complicated film. I'd probably give it a B+ on first impression, but it feels like something I need to see again.

The narration in the theatrical cut explains some things that can seem strange in the final cut without the narration.

I saw the original in a theater when it was first released (saw it with my at the time future ex-wife :D).
We were both disappointed.
But, when it was released on VHS, it was one of the first titles that had a reasonable price, about $40 as I recall. Most titles were going for $80-90 (and I was buying at that price ).
So, at the low (at the time) price, I bought it. It's now a favorite.

The Final Cut, because it is the final cut. Screw that silly voiceover.

My preferred order (and how I did watch them recently)

1. Original Cut (because it was not tinkered with TOO much)
2. Director's Cut (what did Ridley want to mess with?)
3. Final Cut (NO SERIOUSLY... what did Ridley want to mess with?)

Thanks everyone for the input. I will go with your order eizenga13.

+1

The voiceover provides details and insight that are absent from the Final Cut. I prefer the Final Cut overall, but I think the International Version should be seen first.

I'm going to watch the Final first. But please someone watch it for me tonight, I have to wait until Christmas to unwrap it.

As daft has this thread is I wouldn’t have come on saying which version of Blade Runner should I watch first, I guess the next question is, should I throw myself in front of a car? Nice bit of attention seeking.

Anyway I’ve seen the final cut and I know where its staying, in the box, and only the original will get played on this JBL sound system, I’d sooner stuff that unicorn’s head and have it hanging on the wall.:D

Merry Christmas.:)
