When I checked the self diagnostics it stated #8 HV. But I have the blinking light witch is 8 times. That is supose to be the audio.

So the symptoms are. The TV will flash blue really quick a few times and eventually turn off. Also I use a home theater system with it. When I change the video on the TV the audio stays on the main audio sound (cable). So If I'm using the DVD player the TV has the correct sound but the stereo is still the sound from the cable.

So what do you all think. I really want to fix this TV.

I really love this TV.
It was free so I don't mind spending money on it.

Don't fully understand your explanation, but sounds like the blue crt is shorting. G2 needs to be adjusted short term, and crts need to be checked long term.

What don't you understand.

I was thinking that the blue CRT needed to be replaced. But can that cause the #8 HV (assuming high voltage) on the self diagnostics screen?

What about the audio?

Ok I put a new blue tube in and that took care of the high voltage issue.

Now when I first got the TV the audio worked good. I have a receiver hooked up to it. I can get sound on the receiver when I watch cable. When I switch the video on the TV the sound is still the cable on the receiver. I can not get any sound from video 1,2,3 etc on the receiver. I have checked the settings on the menu on the TV and they are right. Nothing has changed. It just quit working.
