View Full Version : WHV- A New Low- No BR disc in the box
terrym4 12-24-07, 12:38 PM Back in August 2007, I pre-ordered the Kubrick films on BR as well as Blade Runner 5 disc set from WHV. Now it is closing in on 2008 and 2 of the Kubrick films are still on backorder (CO and 2001), but last week I received an email that Blade Runner had shipped. Today a received a huge box from UPS from WHV. Inside was a shipping label for Blade Runner and- nothing else. NADA. No sign of the DVD.
Has this happened to anyone else? Has anyone received their BR Blade Runner from WHV?
If anyone had any doubts that WHV is the worst online DVD merchant, this settles it.
rexdigital 12-24-07, 01:26 PM they are the worst and I will never order from them again.
just not worth the trouble.
My Blade Runner order which I placed on 9/30 was canceled on Novemeber 1by Warner - citing a 60 day rule about back orders resulting in an auto cancelation. The thing is the order also contained 2001 which was on back-order. My order was auto canceled cause of the 2001 back order - which automatically canceled Blade Runner even though Blade Runner wasn't even released yet. I phoned to follow up and get the story, then I just had the CS rep cancel anything I had outstanding.
I just chacekd the mail and I have a copy of Balde Runner from Warner. Why would they send it if it was canceled? After Warner canceled my order I placed an order with Amazon.
Geesh I hope they don't expect me to pay for it. They canceled and I confirmed that by phone. And I have the online order summary that says it's canceled...
KnightLerxst 12-24-07, 03:12 PM I had a box show up with two UPS envelopes inside. Inside the envelopes were shipping invoices that had nothing to do with me. Today another package showed up today with Blade Runner. Same tracking number as the first package. UPS and Warner...a fantastic combination.
Oh and I told Warner twice to cancel my order...yet they shipped Blade Runner...
Received Hairspray today from WHV. Order was cancelled a month ago (and they sent me an email confirming the order was cancelled). Ocean's boxset was also on that cancelled order --- guess it's going to show up at my door one of these days.
Don Borvio 12-24-07, 03:30 PM I got woken up on last Monday at 9am by the UPS guy ringing the doorbell, had a big box (about 2 shoeboxes in shape, end-to-end). I was like, uh ok? It was my Blade Runner HD DVD set I ordered, a week after release but overnighted from Friday to Monday. Silly stuff. It had some air bags for packing in it but I could see it still slid around a bit in there.
I still have Pan's Labyrinth on order, we'll see if/when that comes. Then, I'm done with them.
Donnie Eldridge 12-24-07, 04:21 PM Today I just received my Potter giftset on Blu-ray which I canceled two months ago.
rboster 12-24-07, 06:57 PM I received the Shinning today via UPS. Which of course was cancelled over a month ago. I'm afraid to check my front door going forward and seeing all the titles that I have cancelled over the last quarter. Just when you thought it was safe to answer the door....WHV.
As everyone can imagine ....returning these items and getting everything straightened out on our credit cards should be a breeze. I can't imagine we'll encounter any problems? ;)
WTF!? So WHV shipped you an empty box!? How dumb can they be? I'd bypass WHV and go straight to your CC company. That's on the verge of fraud.
lgans316 12-24-07, 09:42 PM Yes. The incident can be reported as a fraud to your CC issuing bank.
SXRDMan 12-24-07, 09:59 PM I received my cancelled copy of Blade Runner on blu-ray today and not only did I cancel it over a month ago, it had no bubble wrap or anything to protect it inside this semi-large box. I am, of course, pissed at WHV now. Bastards

I never had this happen with them, but you've got to love those huge boxes that they use just to ship one movie. I have about ten of those things occupying my garage for future use.
Dr Kain 12-24-07, 10:00 PM Does the BR suit case version even exist? Not a single Best Buy got any in, nor did Target, or Walmart, or circuit ****ty.
DigitalfreakNYC 12-24-07, 10:18 PM I received my cancelled copy of BR today as well. It's cancelled on the website. I wasn't charged for it.

This has to be the ultimate WHV Frick-up yet.
BTW, they sent me 2 BD Blade Runners (after they cancelled my Aug. order and forcing me to re-order). No doubt, I'll see more duplicate orders.
thedeskE 12-25-07, 12:27 AM Man - all these threads about WHV whacky shipping.
Gotta be outstanding fatties being passed around in the slippeng werhouze - woh dude - exhale - mmm, I'm thurstie - gotn' nee ho hos man?
Babaganoosh 12-25-07, 12:41 AM I've been mad at Warner ever since, way back when their version of 2010 was released on DVD, it had a note on the packaging saying that it was anamorphic widescreen. IT ISN'T!
Now why the hell can't they release 2010 properly? A Blu-Ray version would be nice, but I'd settle for a proper (anamorphic) standard release.

Cancelation with WHV doesn't mean anything unless the warehouse itself acknowledges the cancellation. They say this so it's no secret! If you don't receive a formal acknowledgement of cancellation, then you can't consider it officially canceled!
PS. The solution is to not order anything from WHV unless you are willing to wait for it.

Yes, I've received a couple too. Personally, I'm impressed with their willingness to spend some bucks delivering titles to us that were not only discounted 25%, but also shipped free of charge.
It's my impression they are consciencious folk who are doing their level best to meet their obligations. It's a damnable shame that so many are so impatient they are willing to rip these folk when we are seeing a sense of responsibility that is actually impressive!
Still, I guess we can't expect too much from our fellow human beings ! Personal priorities and impatience clearly transcends all!
xpertpredator 12-25-07, 01:19 AM terrym4 you may not want to blame WHV. I personally work at UPS and boxes break open all the time. Half of the time we don't know what goes in what box so we put it in a tote box which then just sits in our warehouse. Maybe your particular box broke open in the hub, and was placed in a tote and forgotten about. Have you tried contacting UPS about this. Was your box all taped up, or did it appear to have been opened prior to being shipped.
terrym4 12-25-07, 01:59 AM The shipping label was in a UPS "medium box" with the zip open tab intact.
Anyone who received a Blade Runner 5 disc BR in error from WHV, feel free to send it on to me.
As far as "It's a damnable shame that so many are so impatient they are willing to rip these folk when we are seeing a sense of responsibility that is actually impressive!
I have dealt with all the major DVD online retailers for 10 years now, and I have never experienced service like this, nor complained online. Months go by with no reply to emails, no information on discs ordered months ago, a total inability to cancel parts of an order without canceling the whole order. I have been extremely patient until this. I can't believe anyone could stay in business with service this bad.
rexdigital 12-25-07, 02:35 AM I cancelled 2001, full metal jacket and bladerunner after 2001 & FMJ didn't arrive on time in october.
Bladerunner showed up today in a large ups box.
DOLTS!

Okay, so I guess that means that everyone should be blaming UPS for breaking open boxes "all the time." Seriously, I've never had a problem with an order from Amazon. Do they use UPS? I know they don't use DHL, which I have heard treats their customers like crap also.
kucharsk 12-25-07, 06:20 AM Add another to the canceled order list.
I canceled my order for Omega Man and The Shining from WBHV well over a month ago, and got confirmation of the order cancellation.
A week after the cancellation, they shipped my backordered copy of Omega Man, and I just got confirmation that they shipped my copy of The Shining.
Since I just got the latter from Amazon, I've got to figure out what to do with the WBHV copy now.
At least I know never to order from them again, and I suppose if I really wanted to make a fuss I could dispute the charge with my credit card company given I have an order cancellation predating the shipment by a month...

You've become quite the apologist for WHV...either you are someone of great patience, which I admire or you gain enjoyment from playing devil's advocate. I don't know you, so I'll assume the former.
The problem lies with receiving titles after they have been cancelled. The burden then falls on the customer, who must go through the process of repacking, reshipping and combing through the CC charges to make sure the credit was processed. I am making the assumption that WHV will handle the return process correctly....I think in light of their problems in order fulfillment, that is a weak assumption.

Let's not forget having to eat the cost of return shipping. Depending on your method of shipment, that means having to pay $2 - $5 on average for WHV's mistake.
Coastsider 12-28-07, 01:10 PM After I received an email from Warner advising me that my copies of 2001 and Blade Runner would be delayed up to 30 more days I cancelled both then ordered 2001 from Buy and BR from Amazon. A few days later BR arrives from Warner then a day or two after that the same from Amazon. I returned the Amazon copy figuring I had a better chance of actually getting my money refunded. Now I just hope I don't get a second copy of 2001 from Warners as well.
I have patience but only to a point which I reached with Warners with this transaction. I just received the copy of Pan's Labyrinth that I pre-ordered from them which was my last outstanding order and at this point I am done and will not revisit their website no matter what the deal is.
Scott_lb 12-28-07, 02:46 PM I picked up the BD version of Blade Runner from BB last week. Three of the discs weren't attached to the case and the fifth disc was terribly scratched and had fingerprints all over it. Fortunately, BB gave me a refund so I can pick up another copy instead. Fingers crossed!
schticker 12-28-07, 09:41 PM aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahaha
filmfreak 12-28-07, 09:59 PM The Managers of those shipping houses should be fired! Not only is the quality control horrible, but they're costing the company money by shipping out canceled orders. Wow
SC0TLANDF0REVER 12-30-07, 02:27 AM ... and it continues (WHV issues).
Coastsider 12-30-07, 10:09 AM And the answer is yes - Warner just shipped my cancelled 2001 order.
And right after the shipping notice email I got a 20% off everything coupon code from them. I think I'll rush right over.
stretch35 01-01-08, 04:31 AM a WHV cust rep said to keep a duplicate kubrick (fmj deluxe) ..and they didn't seem to want me to send it back and certainly weren't gonna pay for it me neither..jcanceled orders that show up anyway I guess just watch card for billing..who knows what to do any WHV cs will tell you anything..
