For the last week or so, when listening to XM on my laptop, the music keeps cutting out momentarily every few seconds, then comes back. It is really annoying.

I have 10mbps internet service thru Suddenlink cable, so I don't see how I should have a bandwidth issue.

I guess not.

I did find out that having this notebook connected via wireless router could be a problem. I did some listening on the PC that is connected with an ethernet cable, and there was much less cutting out, although I don't understand why there was still some of it.

I had hoped that this notebook being located approximately 9 feet from the router would allow it to have a sufficient connection to stream XM. Unfortunately, to connect a network cable would require running it across the floor.

Both XM and Sirius web streams cut out all the time.
Broadband doesn't help just lousy streams from both companies.
I don't even bother anymore.
It's very annoying.

Somebody tipped me off to AOL Online music service, and I have been listening to their Jazz Mix channel. Sounds decent to me, and I have not noticed any cut outs so far. It seems they have about 200 channels I can listen to.

I have Sirius also. I may have lost something a couple of times for a few seconds, but that was it. Has been excellent for a long time now.

I switched to the Yahoo Widget for streaming XM. I had the same problem with the stream from the player at the XM site. When I switched to yahoo widget, no problems.

As a follow-up on the cutting out problem I was having,

the problem occurred for a day or two, but quit after that and I have not noticed it again.

At this point XM and AOL Radio sound pretty nice to me through my Soundblaster Live24Bit External sound card connected via optical cable.

I think I will also check out the Yahoo Widget as well as this Pandora internet radio.

I listen to it thru a router along with wireless on my laptop and I never had a dropout at home. Perhaps it is due to FIOS. At work, I had dropouts all the time over our network.

Pandora is quite good, I have been listening for about a year and have found a great deal of new music I would never have run into!!!

I listen to Sirius' 128K streams in the car via wireless internet and it holds very well. When stationary it rarely drops out. I can walk around inside buildings and listen through bluetooth stereo headphones. Quality is much better than their satellite service and is similar to the E* feeds.

I just bought a new HP computer with Vista. I get drop outs on xm radio and other programs as well. I am quite sure everything is set ok on the computer. Xm radio begins; then cuts out after a couple of minutes. These drop outs continue off and on.

I've been streaming through a Roku and slimserver....and have noticed a ton of dropuouts. I first thought it was the Roku lockign up....but not maybe it's not the Roku causing the issue. I'm going to stream from internet radio and mp3's and see if I get the same droupouts..but I'm guessing it's related to XM online.

I have dropout when listening through my PC connected via wireless. I switched to an ethernet connected PC and the dropouts disappeared completely. There were no dropouts on my wireless connection unless I opened other webpages while streaming. My upload speed is 721kbps and 2800kbps according to dslreports.com

This shouldn't be a speed bottleneck problem.
