^^ Not sure what he's talking about, but there are/were opportunities to purchase a PS3 below MSRP with various coupon deals.

Honestly, your best bet for finding deals on the PS3 is Slickdeals.net or **************. Those guys always have their ears to the ground when it comes to saving a few bucks on popular items.

Good luck!

Right I check there I just did know if anyone knew of a deal like wal mart was running where if you buy you get a 50 dollar gift card or anything like that. Or if amazon would be running a free game and remote deal again or anything like that. Cant wait to get some HDM on my screen :).

Thanks

I was lucky enough to get the 40 gb with a free game and remote from Walmart online a few weeks ago. Got to open it up today, watched The Fifth Element in Bluray on my Toshiba 47HL167 and was very impressed, looks better then my Toshiba HD DVD player. Keep checking here everyday, people post the deals pretty quick.

I got a 40GB with Stranglehold and BD remote from amazon a few weeks ago. I used the sony card to get $100 off first purchase.

i then returned stranglehold and remote to walmart for over $100 in credit. So far my ps3 is down to 200.

once those 5 movies come in, I am gonna return them to wally for store credit again. That should drop the price down another 75-100.

Here is the link for the credit card:

I wouldn't brag about defrauding any store, even if it is Wal-Mart...

I am in the same boat. I have been looking this morning and haven't found anything that looks like a great deal yet. I was also hoping for something like the 10 Blu-Ray discs that was offered earlier in the year. The only thing I have found this morning is a Wal-Mart deal for the 80GB for $498.00 with a game of your choice, similar to the current boxed set but if you don't want Motostorm it gives you some options, it also included some type of optional stand.

I went to Kmart this past weekend and got in on the buy a $50 gift card, get a $10 rewards card. Wound up getting the 80Gb Motorstorm bundle and COD4 for $470 OOP.

I'm looking too. Walmart has a Special Bundle, but it's hard to figure out exactly what you get. The picture has 2 controlers and R&C. It says you can pick a game oo... other than that I haven't been able to find anything special

I saw the two controllers in the picture but if you look it says the bundle "starts at 498.00" then there is an option to add a controller.

Yeah, but the "bundle" starts at $498 for the 40G unit. I would think that an extra controller and R&C would be included in that price. Then you can add additional ones too.

best deal I found, and jumped on myself, was at sonystyle.com. $399 regular price with free shipping. sign up for their sony visa card and get $100 off. add to that 5 free movies. add to that 18 months interest free financing and it was a $20/month PS3 including an extra controller. not bad.

I'm sorry to hear your integrity is worth so little... What's that come to, $200?

There's a little old lady down the street with $50 bucks in her purse. If you trip her, maybe it will fall out for you.

Is it stated in Wal-Marts return policy you have to have actually bought the items from them? Or just that they can't be open etc? I'm sure it does say that, but I never actually looked.

I don't know if it's defrauding.... Walmart got back movies, a game and a remote that they're going to resell. It's a bit shady but Walmart can resell those unopened items and make their money back.

That being said, I wouldn't do it.

The sonystyle.com deal looks to be the best deal going right now..... A free controller and the Sony card discount.

in addition to the bill off and the controller, they're also offering free shipping, 5 free br discs, and no tax in some states...just FYI....

If it wasn't originally purchased from Wal-mart, then it is fraudulent. No two ways about it.

A credit is issued in the amount of the current selling price of the item. The very best situation for Wal-mart is that they are able to sell the item for the exact amount of the credit issued, resulting in a net of $0. The longer the item sits on the shelf, the greater the likelihood that they are going to lose money through inventory carrying costs and/or price changes (sales).

Basically, if the best they can do is make their money back and have no shot at turning a profit: it's fraud.

This is what I ended up doing. I don't know that a better deal can be had. I got the 80gb with a free controller, free shipping, and no tax. After the $100.00 off for the promotion it will cost me 399.00 and you can pay it over 18 months if you like although I will just pay it off and cancel the card.
