This is my 2nd bulb, the first I replaced with just over 300 hs and when I installed with a new bulb I could not see any difference in brightness, now that it got 1.482hs I decided to replace with a new one. Holly BRIGHTNESS :cool: I feel that now it is a little to bright for my taste.
I also have some question about the whites. IT seems that the whites are way to bright, is this called (CLIPPING)? and how do I go on adjusting?

Thanks

PS It IS REALY BRIGHT:)

Yes they are, and with the release of the Sapphire (VPL VW200) having the same bulb I don't think it will come down in price anytime soon. this bulb really rum well to up 1.000 to 1.200 hs, then you must replace it.
and when you do is like having a brand new projector.

ok, its a shame the bulb isn't cheaper. I saw a closeout deal on one of these projectors and I was considering it until I saw the bulb replacement cost. The projector I have now is $500 for a new bulb and I thought that was too high.

Angeli;
To address this 'too bright' issue, if would simply run some basic calibration. Either now or if you can hang in there for a bit wait till the lamp had a chance to settle in, maybe after some 50 hrs or so.

On the same token, those lamps do not have reputation for being too bright for very long. They loose brightness rather quickly.. In any case I would recommend some calibration in any case.

Like I said this is my third lamp in this PJ, 50hs doesn't make this lamp dim at all nor 300hs. you start seeing at about 1000 hs plus.
my main use for a home cinema is for movies and I like images to be movietheater like, thats why I have plasmas and LCD TV, rarely I watch TV on it unless is a special event.
The reason I replaced again is I was about to oder the VPL VW200(sapphire) but I decided
to hold on a little bit longer hopping the 200 will come down in price.
Back when I purchased my Ruby I paid $12K and a few months later it when down to 8K.
thrust me a new lamp on the Ruby makes you feel you have a new PJ.
