I'm designing a 20x16x8 dedicated home theater room. I'll have an 8" riser for a row of 5 Berklines and a front row of 4. I'll also have a stage (either 1 or 2 steps). Here's what I need advice on:

1. I want as much of a bat cave as my wife will allow. I've seen a lot of pictures of the screen wall being black. Many use perf screens with the speakers behind, but this is not an option for me. My speakers will be out on the stage. Those with perf screens seem to have some kind of speaker fabric material on the screen wall. If I'm not going with a perf screen but still want a black back wall, are there options besides black paint?? What to others do, and if a special material, where do I find it??

2. Carpet - I'm considering a black or dark maroon pattern home theater carpet. I've seen pictures but again, don't know where to buy them and don't think normal carpet places carry them. I'd appreciate any advice on places to look and with decent prices. I live Northwest of Atlanta, GA, in case there's a local or regional place to go.

3. Walls - I'm having my basement contractor build insets with paint grade square columns. Inside each recess, I can either put a sound panel or a movie poster or both. I'm having the walls insulated with rock-wool, which is substantially cheaper than quiet rock wall board and about (supposedly 70-80% as good). Once my theater is finished, how will I know if I can benefit from accoustic panels? Also, is there an easy way to secure movie posters on all 4 corners?? I'll be using 2 HSU Tubes for subs - 12" round by 4' high with a dedicated 1000 watt amp, which will dust the walls, so I need to secure everything.

Thanks!

1. Guilford of maine fabric or www.dazian.com. Dazian look to Celtic or Janus line. GOM and Dazian are both accoustically transparent.

2. Regular carpet places sell dark maroon and black. You have another option. Dalton, GA. A 1.5 hour ride up I-75 puts you in the carpet capitol of the world. If I had the option I would definately take a ride up that way and save a boat load of $$...
