Ok, it is the holiday's and I think I have officially gone mad!
But I have a question regarding HDMI (I have other questions regarding my setup, but I will save those for another area on the forum).

When hooking up an HDMI cable from a source (i.e. cable box, xbox, dvd player) to a tv, that is solely for VIDEO signal correct? Or does that cover audio as well?

I am getting a new tv and dvd player, but keeping my older 5.1 yamaha receiver w/o HDMI, and I am trying to find the highest quality and at the same time easiest set up.

Thanks for puttin up with the stupidity

1st of all, u're probably not stupid:confused:, get off that now. maybe uninformed, but thats why you're here. to get informed! like most of the rest of us.

2nd, hdmi is designed to carry both video and audio but if u want to keep and use old receiver, run dig. audio (or analog) from source(s) to receiver and just use hdmi for video.

there is a LOT of info on what u need to know, here at avs. learn to use the search functions on this site and many questions u have will be answered.
