Anyone know if there are plans to put this on hd dvd ? Or if it will be hd dvd if its released on high def ?

I just started watching it on hd net and i'm impressed but would much rather buy the seasons then have to catch it on tv

As this was the first Star Trek series to be cancelled before a 7 year run in 30 years, I doubt its release in HD is very high on the "to do" list of the various Star Trek series'. I could be wrong, but after all 3 seasons of the original series is released, I'm guessing you will see HD releases of Star Trek TNG and perhaps Voyager. I personally loved Deep Space Nine, and Enterprise was alright too, but something tells me it will be years before we ever see either series released in high definition. Honestly, I doubt either one EVER will be. The demand from the general public would be way too low IMO. From a business sense I doubt they could justify the release when so few copies would sell.

With any luck, no :p

I'd rather have TNG or DS9. I suppose this goes along with the trend most of us are following, buying/watching things we otherwise wouldn't just because it's in high definition.

I didn't watch this when it was on, but I've been following it from the beginning on HD.NET. Currently in the middle of season 3, and it looks pretty damn good on there. Visuals are very important for a show like this, and I don't see how anyone could have fully appreciated it during its initial run, without the benefit of HD.

Enterprise would definitely be the easiest one for them to release on HD DVD though since I believe all the production was done at HD resolution or better. (Most of it was recorded on film, and I think Season 4 was recorded on HD video to reduce cost.)

TNG, DSN & Voyager were recorded on film, but all the special effects and other post production was only done at SD resolution - so they would need to go back and re-do all of that for before releasing on HD DVD.

I personally loved Enterprise. It and DS9 were my favorites, followed closely by the later seasons of TNG. Voyager unfortunatley makes me cringe more often than not due to it's ridiculous "pastel-ness".

Oh god, I hated those 2 ST series. I'd really like to see Enterprise come out as well.

There is a heavy use of DNR on all the live action shots (doesn't appear to be present in CGI shots). All detail in peoples' faces and clothing has been transformed to mush. It looks pretty bad. Hopefully, this won't spill over into an HD DVD release.

If anything seasons 3 and 4 would be great to have as they were really good (I think everyone that saw the first two seasons just wrote it off and didn't realize that the good stuff started coming along later), especially season 4. I'd go for ENT in HD.

If you hated TNG, you're not a Star Trek fan.

Guilty as charged. Though, I didn't actually hate the show, but I could just never get into it. Then again, I was an ignorant child when it was airing originally.

I guess it was easy for me to like Enterprise since I like Scott Bakula.

I was at the Las Vegas Star Trek convention this past April and they had a whole hour dedicated to the TOS HD DVDs with the Okudas and various CBS PR people on stage answering questions.

One person asked when TNG would be on HD DVD and Mike Okuda said everyone is focusing on TOS right now but hinted that TNG would be next.

Not surprising of course.

Ditto. I watched it when it first came on until about half way through Season 2, but now that it is on HD NET, I Tivo every episode!

No doubt TNG was great though the 1st season was a little choppy. DS9 was the only one I never really got into but I like Enterprise. The last season of Enterprise was really good, once they went into the expanse, sad to see it go gonna miss Jolene Blaylock.

HD.Net just stopped airing Enterprise. Bummer as I only had about 75% of the episodes recorded. I sent an email to see if they plan to re-air it or any of the other ST series.

Original series season 1 in HD looks real good. Check amazon.ca or ezydvd for best prices.

Question: Since this is a Combo Disc, won't the fact that the ones from EZYDVD will be Region 2 PAL for standard definition sides make that side unplayable over here in the US? If that is the case, I'd wait for amazon.ca to have another sale.

Yeah, it won't work in US DVD players, so you might one to look into the amazon.ca one.

HD.Net just stopped airing Enterprise.

I am so pissed about this. They've been airing it faithfully for almost 2 years now, and just suddenly stopped before finishing the final episodes. Anyone have Mark Cuban's email address?
