My sony 46XBR4 has major pixelization on every channel.I watch HD channels through a Directv HD reciever with a Monster HDMI cable and I also used the HDMI from the Satellite provider and the picture quality is the same. The sports and video games on the xbox 360 are amazing. All Movies and TV shows in HD from have lots of pixelization especially in the background and when the camera zooms in on peoples faces its blurry and the picture is washed out.I don't have any HD DVD or blu-ray player so I don't know how HD movie Discs look.I'm using the custom setting because I heard that Standard and Vivid should be avoided at all costs because it washes out HD resolution. However I already used the Vivid default setting for about 3 weeks before I found out that I shouldn't be using it.I still have the TV because I'm trying to see if the TV will be any better after 100 hours and so far no luck.I also see Triple Image Effect but only on ESPN its only sometimes. How do I know if its the TV or Directv thats causing poor picture quality.Standard definition shows are unbearable to watch.I'm also starting to notice little white dots on the screen that flickers on every channel HD and non hd channels what could be causing that?I'm currently using Custom setting and its set up like this:Backlight: Max,Picture:Max,Brightness 45,Color 45,Hue:0 Color Temperature Cool,Sharpness:48,Noise Reduction low,MPEG Noise Reduction:Low DRC Mode: Mode 1,DRC Palette Reality 50 Clarity 50,Black Corrector:High,Advanced C.E:High,Gamma:High,Clear White:High,Color Space:Wide,Live Color High,White Balance R-Gain -10,G-Gain:0,B-Gain:-4,R-Bias:0,G-Bias 0,B-Bias 0,Detail Enhancer:High,Edge Enhancer:High Power saving low.Could someone please suggest me their TV settings or tell me whats wrong with the picture quality.

Greetings

You are looking at bandwidth issues that have nothing to do with your TV. Cost to fix the infrastructure ... a couple of trillion dollars ... maybe.

People want more channels and the pipeline is only so big ... something has to give and you are seeing it.

Maybe turning the sharpness down might help a bit ... but that is about it. Welcome to bit starved programming.

SD looks the way it does because it wasn't supposed to be shown on anything larger than 19 inches. I bet the TV program guide looks good though. That PIP looks great on every channel. Always less than 19 inches.
