Hi Everyone!

I'm putting the drywall up in my theater. Before I put the panels up on the ceiling, I draw a grid (with pencil) on the drywall sheet to mark the stud and screw locations. I'm wondering if the pencil lines will impact how the primer adheres to the drywall. Should I erase the pencil lines?

Let me know what you think.

Dave

Your fine, primer away!

Primer is made to cover things up, pencil marks , pen, crayon, markers ,old paint, ect, ect. you wont have any issues at all.

If it didn't, there would be a lot of messed up walls...

Thanks!

I'm glad I don't have to remove all of my handy work.

Pencil commonly used to mark imperfections prior to prep/priming (i.e., areas that need some joint compound touch up)

Pencil is fine, but absolutely do not use pen, marker, crayon or anything like that unless you want to use multiple coats of Kilz as your primer. Regular paint and primer will not cover it up and I have seen it happen many times.

On jobsites, drywall guys often will use the edge of a quarter to mark places for touch up if a pencil is not handy. It leaves grey marks that are easy to cover.

You'll be lucky if your paint does not come off in sheets due to those pencil marks! :p

You'll be fine. paint away!!

Okay, okay...

I'll stick with the pencil.
