has anyone noticed all those people that got hd dvd players for christmas that the blu side said didnt exist or that bought them for upconverting players well they buying like crazy at amazon for the bogo sale harry potter has taken 1,2,3,4 spots on the all dvd sales ranks there i might be crazy but i think people are starting to see the benefits of hd on the main stream side finally i think its great what does anyone else think

i also see alot of people that are like a dvd is a dvd i dont need blu/HD with my new 61" tv. a dvd will look just as good.:rolleyes:

that is true but were making steps towards mass adoptions and i believe thats whats we all are here to discuss and anytime you have solid sales its a good thing or am i wrong in this assumption

No I think you are correct in your assumption. I think the Writer's Strike may be factoring into all this as well. I was on an entertainment site earlier that had a poll up on what people were doing to occupy their time during the strike. I was surprised to see that over 40% of those polled said they were looking to upgrade to HDM to pass the time until the strike ends. I can't remember the site I was on right now, but it was not an HDM site it was something akin to Rotten Tomatoes; a general entertainment site that was geared towards the average consumer. To see a poll like that here on AVS would not be that surprising, but seeing it on a regular J6P entertainment site gave me pause.

Ya know, that might just be a 'sponsored' push poll. It would certainly be a decent and somewhat effective marketing device......
That said, it certainly seems like all of those $98 players are beginning to have an impact. CES may be very interesting.
