Which disk from Planet Earth is the best to "test" the pq of a TV? I have netflix so I can't get 4 discs at the same time, and I want to get the best disc when I show my brother the new TV. For reference I bought a Samsung lnt-4071f, So I mostly want the disk where there are bright whites, and dark blacks, and preferably some dark blacks next to bright whites so I can show of the contrast :) .
I don't really want to spend the $60+ on the 4-disk series just yet since I don't know if it would be worth it.

Also I'll be using blu-ray disks and playing them through my PS3.

All disks are good. So you'll want to eventually get your hands on all of them. But I think Shallow Seas is the best, then Great Plains.

1Caves
2Mountains
3Shallow Seas

P.S. Pole to pole is a mix of the whole series so not as important as the others, but variety.

Glow worms/billy goat on mountain/shark slo-mo are the highlights for me.

I say the part where they are in the crystal caves is my favorite part. Just jaw dropping stuff right there.

I agree, every disk is great, you can't go wrong. To me, PE is most impressive Blu-Ray set for PQ, because the shots are real, not CGI special effects.

I love the caves, but I was also impressed by the deserts episode on the same disk. There are some incredible shots that start out with a tight close-up of an animal (elephants, IIRC), then keep panning out forever until the animal is just a dot in a vast expanse of sand. A real test of your screen resolution.

Netflix is fine, but if you're only going to own one BD, this would be it, IMHO (especially at the price of the BBC set at Amazon or Walmart).
