I have a Sony WEGA (42WE610) at home. I am currently running a DirecTV HDTV DVR and I am about to add a Toshiba A3 HD DVD player. I was planning on running both items through the two HD-compatible component video inputs on the back of the TV. However, I also realize that my TV has a DVI input.
What is the optimal set-up?:
1) Continue to use the two HD-compatible component inputs
2) Buy a DVI/HDMI cable to support the HD DVD player (I hope this will allow me to up-convert standard DVDs)
3) Buy a DVI/HDMI converter that will support the HD DVD player
Any other options I missed? Does using the DVI slot to support the HDMI cable create any other issues for me? How is the quality?
Thank you in advance for your help. I am not even sure of which forum to use for this question.
