Hi all.

I am in the process of outfitting my first dedicated media room in our new house. This room is somewhat small, and I have some questions about the best speaker placement for this room. I am doing a front projection system with a 92" - 100" screen size. The room will be used primarily for watching movies and gaming. I am budgeting $1000 for 5.1 speaker setup. I would like the best sound possible, especially for movies.

The main problem I have is the design of the room. It is a box. And two walls have a drywall 'bevel' at the ceiling. I have attached a floor plan that details this room. I have indicated where all the pre-wiring is in the ceiling and the 'bevel' drywall. I would appreciate hearing any and all advice about type of speakers and their placement in this room. I should also note that each location marked 'speaker pre-wire' in the ceiling has a one-gang box where the speaker wires were run to. I was initially considering doing in-ceiling speakers, but some of my research would indicate this might not be the best setup, especially with this room layout. Any and all advice, recommendations and/or smart-a$$ comments are welcome!

Thanks

The square dimensions are going to cause some hefty standing waves around 42/84/126hz/etc. I would say get something like an SVS PB10 ($450) for sub, leaving you $550 for the satellites. They can be whatever brand you like the sound of. Most 5.1 speaker packages come with rubbish subs, which is why I recommend getting SVS.
