What exactly is the "first point of reflection"? The name is fairly self explanatory but i just want to make sure.
Also how do you find the first point of relfection? Do you use a specialized software/hardware or is there a way to do it with commonly available equiptment.
thanks guys.
The FPR is where the sound bounces off a nearby wall to your listening position. To find the FPR sit in at your primary listening position and have a friend slide a mirror along the walls in your room. When you can see the speaker in the mirror you've found the FPR for that wall. Repeat for the ceiling, floor and other wall to find all the FPRs for each speaker. FPRs are most often the cause of muddy sound since the sound arrives at the primary listening position at different times. The FPRs are often treated with sound absorbing material (carpet, drapes, insulating sound board, etc).

or using this free software... You could use the mirror method to check your work.
