The AP3133 is a traditionally-styled high-definition AV home theater system with medium-height multi-driver floorstanding loudspeakers, center channel speaker, surrounds, and powered subwoofer. The system includes a 7.1-channel AV receiver with 150Watts X 7 "ICEpower" output stage, Burr-Brown PCM 1796 24bit/192kHz DAC, multi-input HDMI switching with full 1080p upscaling, HD Radio capability, and Audessey Auto Room Multi EQ Adjustment. The system also includes an LG Super Blu player, dual-format BD and HD DVD player.

...

The AP3133 and LHT888 are merely precursors for more ambitious LG products to come. These new home theater systems will ship at astonishingly affordable prices, permanently establishing LG as the audio leader.

If they want to "astonish" me, it'll have to be 3 or 4 hundred bucks. No way on that.

Sounds very interesting.

Not only does it have HD/BD playback, but it also is an audio system that apparently is tuned and co-designed with Mark Levinson.

If one adds up the pieces, it may be something like this:

HD/BD playback - $800
150x7 HDMI AVR - $1200
Audiophile Speakers and Sub - $2000 or more

I might be missing something, but this could be worth over $4,000 on the face of it, so it'll be interesting to see what they price it at.

On the other hand, depending on the speaker quality, it could be worth far more than this.

Anything over $500 is not worth it IMO. It's cheaper to buy a single HD DVD & BD player.

It's an entire system, not just an HDM player.

Let me help set expectations. I don't know how many of you are familiar with the Mark Levinson brand (which is partnering with LG on this product), but they are strictly hi-end audio. As in $12K for 2-channel power amps. This thing is supposed to have "cost is no object", audiophile parts like Burr-Brown digital-to-analog converters, ICE Power amps and more.

"Astonishingly affordable" is a relative term. But I promise you, this won't be anywhere near $500. WTH?!?!? The LG DF player alone costs more than that.
