Setting up a theater system in a bedroom. Here's the dilemma:
My 46" flat panel (on order) will be 11 feet from my face in one set up, (which is probably a better distance) or 9 feet away in the other set up. However, in the 9 foot set up, there is a bigger wall and more room for proper surround speaker placement.
For those of you with a similar set up (large TV / medium bedroom) ... will this size TV be ridiculously too close at 9 feet, and would the extra 2 feet make a difference?
Thanks!

9ft is not too close at all for 46", in fact this is the furthest back you would want to be. Many would argue you should be closer. I sit 11ft from a 57".

I sit 9ft from my 60", and I love it.

I'd say it would border on ridiculously too far away. From 9 feet, I'd want a 60"

OK, so I see I was uneducated in the distance thing. I've rearranged the room and will make adjustments so that the distance is more like 7 to 8 feet.
And, the speaker placement will be better too.
Can't wait!!

DTAB, the distance is up to you. My Mother likes the distance to be really far for a big TV, she has some lame theory that if the TV is too big or close you have to move your head too much. But that's my Mother. For us enthusiasts, sitting close makes for a better viewing experience, especially when watching HD. When you are too far away, you don't even notice the HD picture.

So it's ultimately up to you, but if you are into it like I think you are, the closer the better.

BTW, a 46" TV in the bedroom is NICE! I only went with a 32" for cost reasons, figuring I would have just one massive TV in the living room. But now you made me jealous...
