got a Sony 46" lcd v3000-series flat panel and want to mount it on the wall

question about the wall mount--i wanted a low-profile mount that would only stick out about 1-1/4" from the wall (especially since it's a partition wall that you walk by, so wanted the slimmer, neater look) as opposed to the tilt mount that brings it out about 2-1/2" (which my wife wants in case we sit on the floor). is there any advantage to, or would any of you recommend, going with the tilt. the middle of the TV might be slightly higher than eye-level given that our walls are so tall. oh, and the brand for the wall mounts is Sanus...are they ok?

question on the hdmi cable--running from tv into wall, then out of wall to dvd player. do you normally just use one cable for that (which i was going to do, right from the tv to the dvd player), or do you have a special junction box and face plate that you use to hook the dvd player's hdmi cable to the face plate?

question about surge protectors--guy at store gave me a two-outlet Monster surge protector to plug into the standard outlet behind the tv. is a surge protector recommended or necessary, and are there any options any of you would recommend over that particular one.

thanks for any answers or advice. new to the website (love it) and to home theater.

Either way would work fine. Most people choose to use a wall plate as it is a cleaner look and seals the wall.

I would recommend a surge protector. The Monster would work just fine.
