I'm currently using my Vizio 32''(VX32L) as my computer monitor. I'm connected using a Geforce 7800GTX, the cable is VGA with a DVI-VGA adapter that came with my dell computer. I wanted a better picture so I bought a HDMI DVI cable (24AWG) w/net jacket-15ft (Gold Plated) from Monoprice. When I connected the cable, the picture was terrible, and the color was a little off. I'm able to read text and such, but I will not accept that picture. I played with the NVIDIA settings and TV setting but it never cleared up. I tried both DVI ports and both HDMI ports. I trust the cable, and my video card isn't that outdated(I hope).

Question: WTF IS WRONG?

Secondly, the reason I bought the cable is because the connection i'm currently using, VGA cable w/ DVI-VGA adapter is fine except for about 6-8 vertical 1/2'' lines running down my screen that make the picture where they are hazy, kind of like a like a focus picture. I only really notice it when reading text, it makes me squint. I noticed that these lines move left and right when adjusting the "Fine Tune" under the TV menu.

Question: Is this my cables(and or adaptars) fault?

PS: My video card has 2 DVI outputs and a Svideo. Also, i'm not very technical, so dumb down your answers, thanks!

I would check the resolution you are outputting for the dvi port the TV in the computer display properties. Make sure you are at the native resolution for the tv for the best picture. So if it’s a 720p tv, the resolution is 1360 X 768 for the 16:9 resolution.

Right click Desktop >> Click Properties/Personalize >> Display Settings

Good luck.
