View Full Version : Browning HT Launch
I have been viewing these threads for a few weeks and with some encouragement I have decided to post my HT project. We are actually finishing the whole basement out to about 1300 sq/ft, but there is a nice 14X18 room that has been set aside for the dedicated HT. I wish I had got on these boards sooner, but I am at least glad I was directed here when I was. I am not doing it myself, but I was allowed to make 'most' of the deicsions on equipment and decor. We have an ugle soffet that runs the the width of the room right about 12 feet from where the screen would be. This really is messing with the placement of everything, but with the help of some calculators on here, I think my measurements are correct.
Best I know how to do is add a link to an Album (http://picasaweb.google.com/lljjbb17/Basement/photo#5149526126655102434)
More pictures have been uploaded to the link above. I have settles on the Panny 200 for my projector and a 100" Elite Screen. The plan is to mount the projector behind the back wall. The real question now is seating. The room is 14X18.5 and I want two rows. the first viewing row will be 10.5 and the later about 15.5. Not sure if I am looking at couches or recliners or a combination of the two. maybe a row of 3-4 recliners in the front and a extra long couch in the back. Any ideas are encouraged.

The whole basement looks like it is coming along very nicely!
As far as the seating goes, I think if you do a couch and recliners put the couch in the front and recliners in back. This way if you do a couch without recliners in it you could still put an ottoman in front of the couch. Then if you have recliners in back they have there own foot rests. Of course this is just a suggestion, I like to have a couch where I can sprawl out every once in a while. Were you planning on doing a riser for the second row?
Cheers,
JJ

The second row has an 8" riser. It is in one of the photos. Since it is only 8 inches the back row really cannot afford to be reclined while the front row is not, which is why I was thinking couch in the back. There is a site that has some seating I am looking at, but there pricing is very inconsistent, so I was planning on calling today to get a better understanding.
More pictures added at the Picasa site, and the couches for the HT get here tomorrow. It is coming together. We may even get to watch the big game.
looks great. i dig the disney pics.
you really need to post the pics in the thread. its easy, right click them, grab the address, then cut and paste it into the "mountain/image" icon.
later.

jjmj427 02-19-08, 08:19 AM Luke,
Your room turned out great. The whole space downstairs looks very classy with the bar area and the HT room.
We missed you at the HT meet on Sunday, I was hoping that you would still be able to make it. It is very comendable to be there for a friend in a time of need. I hope everything is going well otherwise on the MO side of the river.
If you are ever in the area over here let me know and I can give you a tour of the room.
So is the next HT meet going to be at your place? So are you done with your room or do you still have some finishing touches left?
Cheers,
JJ

I don't think we are ever done, but the main part is finished. The rest is furniture and decor. I have quite a bit of sports memorabilia that I will be putting up. The other main thing that is needed is bar stools and a sofa. Any ideas on where I can get some bar stools. They seem to be a lot more expensive than I thought they would be.
For the HT my next step is acoustic panels.

One suggestion for bar stools would be Weekends Only or Garden Ridge. They both carry bar stools and run decent deals on them every so often.
Does Bryan have you all setup on what you need to do for the acoustic treatments?
Cheers,
JJ
