View Full Version : The Simpsons Movie MPG 4??? chemicalraver 12-30-07, 12:12 AM Hey there everyone ... just went over some reviews and i noticed every reviewer says that this mocie is running on mpeg 4 .... but when i look behind my box it says mpg 2 does anyone know what gives ???? Deviation 12-30-07, 12:13 AM Typo on the box, the movie is AVC/MPEG-4. Gary Murrell 12-30-07, 12:54 AM I would have loved to seen this at 37mbps mpeg2 ;) -Gary shadowrage 12-30-07, 01:59 AM While on the subject of the Box. My Simpsons movie doesn't have the black stripe on the bottom that Fox likes. Robo is MGM and it has the stripe. Rescue Dawn is MGM, has no stripe. Sunshine is Searchlight has no Stripe. What's their criteria for putting a stripe on a cover? Or was the Simpsons Movie just misprinted to hell? GamerGuyX 12-30-07, 10:47 AM While on the subject of the Box. What's their criteria for putting a stripe on a cover? Or was the Simpsons Movie just misprinted to hell? Sunshine is the same way - no stripe. I'm thinking Fox is doing away with the stripe like Disney is getting rid of the "swoosh". Which is good because it shouldn't have been there to begin with. txfilmguy 12-30-07, 11:09 AM The stripes, the swoosh, the borders... they were all tools to alert consumers that these discs were different... to prompt them to look closely at the cover and realize these weren't DVDs. Now Blu-ray and HD DVD have entered into broader public awareness and the studios are deciding that the blue and red cases are probably enough to indicate the formats now. chemicalraver 12-30-07, 02:12 PM misprint .... thanks everyone : ) Jedi2016 12-30-07, 04:00 PM I usually go off of what the player tells me. PS3 displays codec and bitrate information. thewretched22 12-30-07, 06:22 PM And a beautiful AVC encoded transfer it is! Kram Sacul 12-30-07, 06:28 PM Except for the... ringing. Uh oh. Now this thread will go missing as well. ;) Deviation 12-30-07, 09:37 PM Except for the... ringing. Uh oh. Now this thread will go missing as well. ;) You mean the ringing that's not there? Kram Sacul 12-30-07, 10:18 PM Yeah, the ringing that's not there but show ups in screen captures. :D Cynn 12-30-07, 11:56 PM The stripes, the swoosh, the borders... they were all tools to alert consumers that these discs were different... to prompt them to look closely at the cover and realize these weren't DVDs. Gary Murrell 12-31-07, 01:01 AM there is no ringing in Simpsons BD, period, you are seeing animation/drawing flaws, this has been discussed plenty before I hate EE and look for it constantly while doing reviews or trying to enjoy films :p it is simply not there in the Simpsons release ;) -Gary shadowrage 12-31-07, 01:36 AM Another funny thing about The Simpsons release. The case is the sony style case with the little tab. All of my other fox titles are like higher quality W cases. Maybe they got someone new to do these? Codec misprint, non-stripe, and sony case. I got attached to the black stipe(makes it look like it can kick ass). But I prefer the sony case. Kram Sacul 12-31-07, 02:00 AM there is no ringing in Simpsons BD, period, you are seeing animation/drawing flaws, this has been discussed plenty before It's definitely ringing (not EE). It's not present in the HD trailers, wasn't there in the theatrical prints, and doesn't exist on the master.
