Same problem with Rush Hour 3, only had the DVD listed, both titles are New Line, maybe they are not supplying Netflix with rental copies.

It's a mystery to me why both of these movies are not available on netflix...seems like their high-def service is on the decline. Most of the high-def movies in my queue are on long or very long wait. Very disappointing.

I also did not have the option of a blu version of Rescue Dawn - only SD. I don't know if they've added it since.

Some Blu-ray Titles at netflix are not available. Rush hour 3 are at Blockbluster, I found a few of the missing BR Titles at BB website. I still find both sites to be slow shipping Blu-ray movies.

Netflix is starting not to carry quite a few Blu-Ray discs. Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Rescue Dawn, Rush Hour 3, and Shoot 'Em Up are just some of the titles.

Interesting. I had the Blu version in my queue for a few months now, and it's just changed to DVD with no drop-down box. Disappointing!

Has anyone already contacted Netflix about this?

I noticed it on Rush Hour 3 and Shoot 'Em up as well. At first, I thought maybe it was a related to timed New Line releases, but they do have Hairspray, so I now doubt that is the case.

I've asked them previously why the wait times are worse for Blu-ray than DVD, and I was told the studios allow them less of the HD titles.

So, I called Netflix to see what was up with this, especially Shoot 'Em Up...and the guy on the other line kept telling me that not all movies were released in BD.

I finally gave up after i couldn't communicate to him that the studio had released it in BD, but I couldn't choose BD on the drop down box. He just kept repeating the same line...that if Netflix doesn't have it, then it's not released in BD.

I believe NF does not stock alot of BD.
Many in my queue take a long time to get to me.
"Very Long Wait" etc.

I've been speaking with Netflix over the past couple of days about the general lack of available Blu-Ray's over the past month and a half. Here is what the CSR told me.

They get about 90,000 DVD's and 400 Blu-Rays.

400 is not going very far these days.

So, anyone know if Blockbuster is better than Netflix? I wouldn't mind switching.

Just joined Netflex, extablished my want list and received DB of 300 in two days. So far, so good, but I hope more films I want to see get added to their site over the next few months.

May be it would help if everybody calls and complaints. I just did, and they gave this song and dance about they are trying to get more BD and HD disks. I have not been able to get any of the first run high def movies for a long time!

that's what i was afraid of and why i didnt bother to switch. really wanted Mr & Mrs Smith. perfect rental title since Fox didn't put the director's cut on the disc.

I just recently setup BD as an option with Netflix and was surprised that Rush Hour 3 was not available, there are also a few HD DVD's they don't have. I was a BB online customer for 2 years and switched about 2 months ago to Netflix do to the horrible wait times and long turn around times of disc. So far Netflix is much better for me with normal turn around time on DVD and HD DVD's has been 3 days, BB was 5-7 days at best. I do see a lot of titles with long wait, but I seem to get them anyways. It could be because I am a new customer...

I might start BB back up and choose the 1 at a time option just to have a backup plan. There isn't any rental stores in my town that carries HD media yet.

They've added it now. I think the issue is on some pre-releases they don't "know" that the hi-def version is coming, so if you add a movie to your queue it defaults to DVD. That's what happend to Rescue Dawn, anyway. I bet with Shoot Em Up if you add it to your queue after it's released, you'll get the Blu version.

SHOOT 'EM UP and RUSH HOUR 3 are both on the way to me from Netflix, as DVD's. I highly doubt they will be BD's. They are not listed as available in BD and I just checkjed two minutes ago.

RESCUE DAWN now is listed as a BD.

I believe it was initially in my Q as BD (in the saved section). Then about a month it was downgraded. Blah.

I've had both Netflix and BB accounts for about 3-4 months around spring of 07. At the time Netflix was better b/c they had alot more BD titles than BB. But once BB started carrying more BD titles and introduced the total access package where you can rent BD movies from the store itself....I dropped my Netflix account. Both Netflix and BB suffer from a shortage in BD titles available for rent. Hopefully both companies are addressing this issue b/c it sucks having to wait for a movie or going to the store and seeing that its rented out.

Shoot 'Em Up arrived at my house today, BD of course.

This movie looked great, and uh, did I mention how good it looked?

Do yourselves a favor, this movie is enterntaining, but try and watch it without your wife. Way too much eyerolling on this one.

BTW, for all you other Netflixers out there, it will be back in the mail tomorrow.

Just rec'd my Blu copy from Netflix today. As of last week, it said "long wait," but I'm not sure those status updates are all that accurate. It has happened on several occasions that something with a "long wait" suddenly ships a few days later. I just don't look at the status anymore. Too depressing to see 1/4 of your queue as "long wait," and it simply isn't accurate anyway IMHO.

I had shoot 'em up and watched it yesterday. Had to upgrade and move up all my New Line titles that were low in my queue.

Seems it takes a few weeks before they get the BD version of them. Probably Blockbuster paid for some exclusivity or something. I've got Rush Hour 3 and Rescue Dawn near the top of my queue now in BD.

Thanks! This has been long wait for me until tonight but it's showing as available now. Hopefully they'll ship me "your" copy tomorrow.
