I have a very old Sanyo PLV-70 which still looks awesome and should hold me over until I eventually upgrade. The problem I'm having is getting a bulb that will work. My OEM bulb still works fine, although I've got about 2400+ hours on it. I ordered and got a replacement bulb which lasted almost 800 hours. When that went I ordered another replacement. That failed within 50 hours, they replaced it under warrantee. That one broke within 2 mins! The next one (again, replaced under warrantee) lasted only 45 mins!

Between each of the above bulbs, I put my trusty OEM bulb back in and all worked fine until the next bulb would come in the mail. If the OEM bulb didn't work so well, I'd think there was something wrong with the projector. The bulb vendor has agreed to give me my $$$ back, and I'm going to try another vendor.

Anyone ever experienced anything like this? Any recommendations for PLV-70 replacement bulbs?

I have seen this in some other projectors, but not in a PLV 70 or some of its brethren. It sounds like the vendor you used had a questionable batch (QC on lamps was pretty low there for a while when demand was super high with RPTVs selling well). Nice that they at least are giving you a refund.

I'd try a different source, but I can't give you one specifically, other than the obvious: give AVS a call.

I've had no problem with the Sanyo lamps I get froma local internet retailer. I'd check the timer, but its not easy to get to. It sure seems like this bulb is lasting longer than the 1300 hours I typically get.

Bus,
I have a 70 too and it was awesome until turning on our new Infocus IN82. We are now in awe for sure.
