Well, I recently am faced with this dilema because I just got back into upgrading my audio video system with the lastest gear (an Onkyo NR-905 AVR and a Samsung BD-UP5000) which all use HDMI 1.3 interface.
My display is the Sony 34XBR2 CRT HDTV which only has one iLink connector for its digital video input. What a dilema. I know I am a bit late jumping back into the game.. but it really has not been too long ago (year 2002) that there was iLink and no HDMI. Now I am stuck with an expensive old top of the line Sony HDTV and incompatible for digital connectors. I remember paying around $3000.00 for this Sony 34XBR2 top rated set back in 2002 time frame. It does provide an exceptional excellent picture quality to this day, however it is fallen behind the times in terms of being able to plug in my new HDMI toys... I am sure others have crossed this path in the transitional years from iLink to DVI to HDMI ? Help! anyone found a way to use this iLink digital input to the Sony HDTV's? Did Sony ever offer a solution or a maybe trade-in discount gesture to the customer's it left hanging in the wind with iLink?

I have been looking for the same thing and only found a converter to component.

iLink (Firewire) and HDMI are two completely different digital interfaces. Not likely you will find a converter to go between them, especially with the HDCP encryption on HDMI. Looks like you're stuck with a component connection to your TV.

Ain't progress a pain?
