Hello,

My seating distance is 10'. I am considering either the 50" 5080 or the Panasonic 1080p 58".

Does any one feel 10 ft is to close for a 1080p 58"? Not due to resolution but rather not being able to take in enough of the screen without moving your eyes.

An exagerated analogy would be sitting very close at a movie theatre.

Thanks for your input.

10 ft. for a 58" 1080p is a perfect distance. It's also a good distance for the 5080. I sit the same distance and want a 58" 1080p but Panasonic does not make this panel for the professional series. Will have to go with the 5080.

Depends. I'd like to know how high the ceilings are, width and depth of the room etc. Don't want it to look like a college dorm room with a monster TV sitting there. I sit 9' from my 950 and love it. I don't watch alot of movies though. When you watch 2.35 movies the screen gets small (I don't mind). The 5080 has incredible blacks and looks better than the Panny. A 50" is the perfect size for you IMO.
Before you buy make a cardboard template. That should help. I sell 58/60 @ 12' plus. To each there own. What do I know? I just sell the stuff for a living.

Bring a pair of glasses -or sunglasses - and a few inches of masking tape to the movie theater and sit where you like to sit.

Look at the middle of the screen. Stick the masking tape vertically to the left and right lenses of glasses where the screen appears to end. Remove the glasses quickly before someone in the audience thinks you are a nut case.

Tape a horizontal length of masking tape on your viewing wall. Put on the glasses at home and get someone to mark on the horizontal tape where the the tapes on the lenses appear to cross the horizontal tape. That's the width of screen that recreates the cinema experience.

At 10 feet a 58"-60" is fine. However, the biggest question is how big your room is? If you have a 10'x12' room it may not be wise to go with such a big screen. However, if you have an open layout or wide room the 58PZ700U should be fine.
