Although not currently an owner of the BD-UP5000, it is something I will consider strongly in the spring if firmware updates fix some of the issues going on with the player.

However to appease my appetite, and for those who want to show off you new player, I thought we could post pictures of the player in our setup. I am interested to see how cool this thing actually looks on people's racks.

Here she is in all her shiny glory!

Frankly, I was initially concerned with this player because of its audio problems. With that said, I'm happy for now with the DD PCM output. I have had NO video playback problems and it has performed perfectly. It has played every disc, HD and BD, flawlessly. I'm glad I pulled the trigger on it and I am pretty confident Samsung will address the firmware issue soon. Until then, I'm tickled purple!!!

Here is a picture of my in wall Middle Atlantic custom rack. The BD-UP5000 is at the top, followed by 360, Onkyo TX-SR705 and lastly the DirecTV TiVO HR10-250.

Where did you get that faceplate for the 360?

That appears to be the default faceplate for the Elite (I think).

No, the Elite is gloss solid black. That looks more like some type of carbon-fiber look-a-like to me. Looks like one of those 'skins' since the memory card doors, on/off button, and usb door are also covered.

It is an official Microsoft face plate. I believe it was called carbon fiber actually. I just saw it one day at an EB. I would imagine it is still available. It is shown at this link (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360faceplate-carbonfiber/) on xbox.com. It blends nicely with the Mid-Atl rack I thought.

How hot does your TX-SR705 get in that closed space??

I have never checked the temp reading so I can't say for sure. However the rack goes into the wall into a closed box which has a very high CFM whisper bathroom fan at the top. That fan draws in air from the outer room floor level up over all the components and exhausts into my laundry room. Anytime the Onkyo is on so is the fan since it is powered by its AC plug. The fan is designed to exhaust a 10x10x8 room and in my case is doing a 3x3x5 box so it moves the air pretty fast.

The true test I think is the 360 which as many know dies often due to heat. I have a day one 360 still working perfectly in this rack.

Also you may want to look at the rack to understand that it is totally open behind the faceplates. The newer shelves even have side ventilated along with bottom ventilated shelves. You can see the rack that I have at this link (http://www.middleatlantic.com/enclosure/roll/srsr.htm). The shelves can be seen at this link (http://www.middleatlantic.com/rsh/rshcus2.htm). If you can do it I highly recommend the Middle Atlantic racks.

Video from the 5000 runs through the scaler in my AVM-50 with the noise reduction set at 60. Picture looks very good.
