got my RS2 a couple weeks ago. finally ready to mount tomorrow. can anybody provide personal insights into your preferred mounting distance ??
Based on my screen and the RS2, I can go anywhere from about 10' to 23' feet.
Does picture quality diminish if I go to the high end of that range (eg. 20').
What key factors dictate how far or close one mounts it?
Thanks,
Greg
This may help. Quite a lot of light loss at the telephoto end of the zoom.

Hi Greg,
Here a link to a projection calculator you might find helpful if you haven't already.

You can't go wrong with a midpoint setting on the zoom and calculating distance from that. However, you may have preferences or considerations to take into account. These are meant to be general and may not apply directly with your projector.
Brightness/Contrast - shorter throw brighter image, lower contrast / longer throw dimmer image, higher contrast.
Lens Quality - Again general - shorter throw potientially lends to optical distortions/ longer throw ratios, potientially less.
Seating - Will placement interfere with seating? No fun if image is being projected on the back of viewers heads.
Fan Noise - May be audible if projector is placed directly over viewers heads.
Just my general notes, hope it's helpful

Jeff, that WAS helpful. I know exactly where it's going now. Ceiling mount about 18' feet from 110" screen, so as to not lose too much and still be behind seating.
