it appears to me that there is a IR spot on the front of this unit, leading me to think that there must be (hopefully) a remote control function and then perhaps a code that I could use with a universal remote

anyone have any ideas?

Ditto here. I am amazed that in all these years . . well, several years anyway . . that nobody has ferreted out the universal remote code for Sirius radios.

Right now I have the same problem with a Sirius Stratus 6. I am looking high and low . . everywhere. So far, like you, I cannot locate the code.

Two years late, but I'll say that I do think the Stratus SV3 has IR capabilities. I say that because my Stratus 5 came without a remote but I noticed what I thought was the sensor so I pointed an SV1 remote at it and it works.

As for a Universal Remote Code, I doubt there is such a thing. There must be 50 brands of universal remotes. They don't have a common numbering system for all the brand names.

I found the code list for my Philips universal remote. I couldn't find Sirius or XM or Audiovox or Directed in the list. If Philips hasn't bothered, the only remotes for Sirius and XM are going to be OEM, and we're lucky there are dealers that carry them.
