View Full Version : Help! Can't Get RS1 Lamp Timer To Reset
Help! Can't Get RS1 Lamp Timer To Reset. I have replaced my RS1 lamp at 2000 hours (no noticeable difference) and can't get the timer to reset. Followed these directions from the owner's manual using both the remote and direct entry on buttons on the RS1: Unit off, red standby LED on, exit, enter, hide, V(Down arrow) for 2 seconds. These instructions are on page 40 of the manual. I have done them quickly and a multitude number of times. Where am I going wrong? Assistance please.
Laurence 01-01-08, 03:54 PM I have the same problem since I changed lamps.
I tried the same sequence, to no avail.
:(
Did you call JVC about this? Just got my RS1 and glad to see someone that got 2000 hours on the lamp! SJ
Just as I suspected, all the participents in this board must be $399 whoot infocus owners pretending to be RS1 owners.
I just don't think too many people have replaced bulbs yet. I'm only on about 360 hours or so.
Laurence 01-02-08, 06:58 AM I changed lamps at 486 hours due to a significant reduction in brightness that occured after 400 hours or so. The new lamp has only 45 hours on it but the timer shows 531.
GaryB_UK 01-02-08, 07:50 AM I've done this on several HD1s (UK version of RS1) and it works exactly as in the Instruction Book, but you do have to press those buttons quickly.

I've tried that.
Since the projector is off when this reset sequence is applied, does the projector indicate confirmation, e.g. does the red standby light flash?

Yes, the Lamp light and Standby/On light should flash alternately. I haven't seen the RS1 Instruction Book for a while, but it might be worth downloading the HD1 Instruction Book (from here (http://www.jvctrueblack.co.uk/downloads/trueblackhd1_instructions.pdf)) just to make sure they're the same.
I"ve changed the lamp, and as GaryB_UK said, you have to push those buttons quickly, as in using fingers on TWO HANDS quickly.
I had trouble at first, but finally got my fingers moving fast enough!
Hope this helps,
Ron
Laurence 01-02-08, 05:23 PM It worked! (finally)
Thank you GaryB_UK and RonC.
RonC's two hand quickstep did the trick, but it takes a really fast, nimble touch.
Now I have to remember that I have 45 hours extra usage on the lamp than is showing.
:)
Laurence 01-02-08, 05:31 PM And thank you, waltco, for posting this thread.
It helped me and it should for you. too.
Thank you fellow AVer's. I knew you would come through. The correct answer....speed. I had the best results when quickly (and I mean quickly) entering all 4 key strokes via the top of the RS1. All 4 in about 1 sec! My timer now happily reads 0 hours and I am the proud owner of a perfectly good spare lamp. Now, time to get ready for the BCS title game, in its full 110" of glorious detail and color.
