Greetings,

I'm using the images at this link (replace the XXXX with http):

XXXX://www.xyhd.tv/2007/10/how-to/calibrate-your-hdtv-with-free-test-patterns-with-sexy-girls/

to see if my TV has overscan issues. It looks like it does. My other questions is related to the images for "White and Black Levels". My TV is chopping off the first letter on the left of the words and the bottom sentence of the disclaimer. Is this normal or is my TV suffering from serious overscan issues (or maybe image positioning issues)? I've been arguing with Vizio (I have the VX32L model) saying that my 1.85:1 movies are missing some of the picture because there are no black bars at the top and bottom. They insist this is normal (which varies on manufacturer from what I've read). However, I want to determine if there is serious calibration issues in which case a service rep would need to come out.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I have been away a lot.

Ideally you should see some of the white edge on Slate 1 with the girl drinking from a straw.

If you can't see blue all the way around (except where the girl crosses the image) then you are going to lose a lot on 1.777 content like TV shows.

Are the Circles on your Screen round?

If you are having overscan issues you would lose the letters you describe... That seems like a helluva lot of overscan.

I don't know if a Service rep can fix the problem. The overscan is Vizio's way of making the screen look bigger than it really is. a 10% overscan makes a 37" look like a 42" and unless you run something like my slates you would never know.

Was your experience over all with the slates useful?
