Marantz has announced the debut of a new projector, dubbed the VP-11S2 DLP projector.
Marantz’s new VP-11S2 high-definition DLP front projector features Texas Instrument’s DC4 chip, which boasts increased brightness and significantly higher contrast than the current DLP chip sets; and HDMI 1.3 inputs with Deep Color capability.

The projector also includes the Gennum GF9351 chip, a programmable video processor that can perform calculations on the order of 500 million floating point operations per second. Featuring both standard and long-throw lens options, and can be retrofitted for use with Marantz’s optional anamorphic lens systems.

“The VP-11S2 is truly the next generation in DLP projectors: a cinema quality display device that rivals professional grade projectors,” commented Marcel Mukerjee, National Sales Director at Marantz Canada.

Boasting a die-cast aluminum chassis, the VP-11S2 also provides HD component video, S-video, composite video and analog RGB connections; and has a vertical lens shift that allows it to be placed well above the top of the screen. The projector also offers remote in/out connections, RS-232C serial control ports, and two DC trigger connections that can trigger two independent operations. This, explains Marantz, allows the projector to reconfigure a dual-aspect ratio projection screen whenever the aspect ratio of the program source changes from 16:9 to 4:3, for example.

The on-screen menu system aids in set-up, and provides calibration facilities like colour temperature and gamma adjustments. Optics are provided by Konica-Minolta, with customized colour filters are optimized to match the spectral characteristics of the 200 Watt DC SuperHighPressure lamp assembly. The colour wheel itself spins at 10,800 RPM. A specially designed Quiet Fluid Dynamic Bearing motor supplies virtually silent operation.

Great news!

Could someone guestimate when we will see a VP15S2 with DC4 too? Thanks.
I will start to save some money for a 2008 projector :)

One thing about marantz is there stability in the 'quality' of the products they manufacture.

Want to know the least problematic and stellar performing projectors we see?

Sharp and marantz models. Just amazing how few we even see.;) There top models are always consistently in the top 5 for reliability and image reproduction. Could never understand why a lot of other manufacturers do not put the cadillac of lenses ( the konica-minolta ) in there units.
