I'm new at this so here goes...I have a Samsung 86187w that I would like to calibrate. I have a lot of experience in digital photography and understand white balance, histograms, etc. How do I adjust my Samsung for optimum performance? Thanks.

Get a test DVD ... like DVE ... AVIA II ... Getgray ... Monster ISF ... the free HD one here at AVS ...

Follow the instructions ... at least on the commercial discs ...

Problem is, follow the instructions and your DVD display is calibrated nicely. Doesn't help your HD display unless you can generate an HD signal for testing.

so go download the AVS HD discs and burn them and you have HD test patterns now too.
