I have been reading up on some of the guides here, they all seemed to be pointing towards calibrating your display for movie watching.
The sticky thread talked about pc level to show 0 to 255 as to movie watching 16 to 235. I was going to adjust my monitor for each one as different modes but I realized that my monitor only support color calibration in standard mode but not in other modes. there is no custom mode either, that left me only one choice which is 1 setting for them all.
I was wondering when you do photo editing, do you use 0 to 255 or do photo editing use the same black/white level as movies.
I am thinking that I might need the extra information when I am editing photos, therefore adjust my monitor to bring down brightness and contrast might be a bad idea.

what can I do?

thank you all for reading
monitor is benq 241w
standard mode can adjust everything, change to movie mode only can adjust brightness and contrast. color and sharpness and everything looks weird, looks like a filter is added, texts looks fuzzy:confused:

The ISO standard monitor white point for digital photo editing is CIE D50 not D65: see ISO 3664 and ISO 12646. I'm not familiar with proper levels for photo work but most likely it's PC at 0 - 255. Check the standards.

thank you, knowing it's likely different from movie watching, I dug a little deeper, I found that I was able to adjust the color and sharpness under "movie mode" in service mode and other hardware profiles. Though there isn't any thing I could turn off I hope the difference in picture quality is just a simple sharpness and color corrections away from "standard mode". If it is, I am happy, I know in TVs some modes turn on some sort of filter was suppose to enhance the picture for mom and pop, which is not good for the tinkering types. I hope it all turn out well when I do my calibrations tonight.
thanks for the information.
I'll post back my findings later and if it helps I will post how to get in to service mode
