Total NOOB here! First post! Ahhh feels good! K, enough mushy stuff - just curious to know if anyone out there has found some good calibration settings that they're pleased with. If so would you mind posting them? Would love to try them out! Thanks in advance!

Every set will need it's own specific settings for optimal performance.

Those settings will depend on what media is being played (DVD, HDDVD, BluRay) and the type of connection being used.

Thanks, jvincent. You're correct. I should be more specific. This is how I would prioritize my uses for the TV 1) Sports - hdmi 2) gaming - xbox 360 (component/ps3 hdmi), 3) bluray - hdmi.

Greetings

Use a test disc ...

Or just go to the plasma forum and copy D-Nice's settings like everyone else has. Sometimes they are close ... and sometimes not at all.

Just take the 5 minutes and run through the THX Optimode on any THX dvd and you will get better results for your set up ... rather than someone else's combination of TV and dvd player.

Thanks, Michael. Being new to the whole calibration thing - is there a particular test disk you would recommend? And the THX optimode is integrated into DVDs? So, I would have to buy a DVD to get that? Just curious to know the most efficient of doing this. Thanks in advance and please pardon my Noobness :D

Greetings

YOu probably already have a disc with the THX stuff ...

They are on all the Star Wars discs ...

The recent Rata pixar flick in BD has its own test patterns too ...

The AVS BD test disc can be burned to DVD and used in the BD player ...

Monster ISF calibration disc is a good one for beginners. ($25) Well explained ...

DVE-HD DVD/DVD is a combo disc that has HD and SD patterns and tutorials ... and more patterns than you would actually need.

Great! Thanks, Michael. I think I've seen that Monster ISF Disk at Frys so I'll go pick that up. Have a good one.
