I'm getting a laptop in early spring and I was wondering if a laptop would have the same audio specs as a standalone HD DVD player and have the interactive features.I was thinking of getting an HP laptop with HDMI and an HD DVD player it costs $1,000.Should I get a laptop without the HD DVD and save money and buy a stand alone HD DVD player or could I download a firmware to get the audio specs. Also do you think the PS3 will get the DTS HD anytime soon.Is it possible that a company will make an add on feature to get DTS HD if Sony doesn't get it from the firmware?

Currently the software(PowerDVD) down rezs the audio even over HDMI. There are rumors that it will change soon but there is no gaurantee that the laptop will be able to take advantage of those new features.

If you absolutely insist on getting the new HD audio codecs then a stand alone player or a PS3 is the only way to get it at this moment. If you want really good sound now and the chance of lossless later then the HD-DVD drives work pretty well but they are not perfect.
