Hi all. I have a new Panasonic AE2000u which I'm going to ceiling-mount in my living room. I have total light control (that sounds kind of ominous). My question is this:
My viewing distance is about 13 feet (it's actually 14 feet from the seat to the wall, but the screen will drop in front of the wall-mounted plasma when needed, so it will be about 13 feet). I was going to mount the projector a bit behind me, so say 16 feet from the screen. I have been planning on getting a screen from Seymour AV, and Chris Seymour has recommended (given the dimensions of the room, etc) a maximum 120" wide screen, which is about a 136.5" diagonal (16:9). The gain on their screen is 1.16.
So I'm concerned about the light output at that distance and with that size screen (and I've tried working with the lumen/throw distance equations but math is seriously not my strong suit). Am I asking for trouble once the lamp becomes less-new in terms of getting a dim picture? I could get a smaller screen but honestly, I'd prefer not to. I could mount the projector over my head, or in front of me, but again, I'm hoping to avoid that as well for aesthetic reasons and fan noise.
So basically we're talking about a 16 foot throw distance onto a 136 diagonal screen, and I'm hoping for comments or suggestions to avoid having a dim picture once the lamp is a little older, or if I try using a lower-power mode.
Thanks so much in advance, I read these forums all the time and you guys are pretty amazing.
Frank
