OK, I know that there are a million variables and a million opinions and a million options. And if that wasn't enough I know this topic comes up at least once a day. However I was sitting here at my desk daydreaming when I thought to myself "Hey why not beat a dead horse". Jokes aside, I need a new budget sub. Currently I'm using a cheap Sensonic 8" front firing sub. Its paired with some AV123 X-SLS towers. This sub distorts terribly, and I don't even push it. I cant, I live in an apartment. So I need something better. The only problem is Im poor. Ive been looking at 2 subs the X-Sub from AV123 and the Athena AS-P4100. Im just looking for some input and or opinions on these two. the Athena is a 10" and the X is a 8". My room is small 11x12 with 8' ceilings. 80% Movies/TV and 20% Music. My budget is $250 shipped.

Any thought or opinions are much appreciated.

To continue beating your dead horse, look into the BIC (or Accustech) H-100. Search eBay and you will find some good deals in the $200 range.

Yeah, Ive been looking at the H-100 for about 4 months now. I deffinitely think its the best value sub out there. Im just a little hesitant to put a 12" sub in that small of a room, in an apartment. Im worried that because of room size, even at low volume the bass will disturb the neighbors.

Bic will be great in that room. You can always turn it down if it is too loud.

Just because you can turn it up, doesn't mean you have to. :)
